As the non-profit arm of The Whitaker Group, a fast-growing, industry-leading and
award-winning retailer, The Whitaker Project is a 501c3 non-profit that seeks to be a
change agent through holistic community development and programming. The
Head of Community will lead a team of community resources in various regions to
create and cultivate innovative programming to meet the needs of diverse and
underserved communities.
Responsibilities
Work with leadership and staff to identify priority areas and create
strategic plans based on community needs locally, regionally and
nationally
Manage relationships with corporate partners and other nonprofit and
community leaders to identify opportunities and execute programming
and events
Develop and lead a dispersed team of Community resources across
various regions
Work closely with in-house event space managers to execute Community
events and programs, where applicable
Collaborate across organizational channels to ensure community
opportunities and impact are integrated into our three retail banners and
corporate office
Effectively manage up, providing status updates and effective reporting to
leadership and the Board of Directors
Assist in order processing as necessary
Manage budget and measure impact of the Community function
Travel as needed to Community locations
Skills
Program Development and/or other non-profit or community development
experience
Excellent problem solving skills, with ability to manage ambiguity, think
outside the box and innovate where possible
Experience leading and managing teams
Effective multitasking skills, high attention to detail and ability to work
and lead with minimal supervision and guidance
Strategic and analytical thinking
Executive presence and relationship management skills
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience with MS office, Google Suite
